RAMexam System RequirementsAny Type of Memory PCs only Runs outside Windows |
We've designed RAMexam to be as flexible as possible, within limits. In order to squeeze the most out of the processor, we've written RAMexam entirely in Intel Assembler language. This doesn't mean that it runs on Intel CPUs only, just on any compatible CPU, which includes AMD, Cyrix, etc.
RAMexam accesses extended memory through the normal assembler instructions, so it is impervious to the kind of memory in the system -- it tests any kind of extended memory from old 30-pin SIMMs to the latest DIMMs, SDRAM, RDRAM, DDR, DDR2, and beyond.
RAMexam is a product written for DOS (sorry, no Macintoshes). This operating system allows RAMexam to access every byte of extended memory and nearly every byte of low DOS memory thus ensuring complete testing coverage of your extended memory.
Also, because RAMexam is a DOS only product, it runs outside Windows, not under it. The reason for this is simple: when Windows is in the picture, it grabs every byte of extended memory for its own use. Any product like RAMexam needs uncontested access to all of the extended memory in the system. If the product runs under Windows, it just isn't doing a complete job.
